How Antimetal uses Loop to accept stablecoins for AWS infrastructure services

Introduction

Antimetal is an infrastructure management platform used by companies like VizExplorer and Gnosis Freight. They specialize in helping teams automate their cloud services spending (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and unlock automation for technology teams post-deployment. They remove the complexities of modern cloud infrastructure and let teams get back to building.

When Antimetal's global customer base began demanding the ability to pay for subscriptions in crypto and stablecoins, the company needed a solution that could be implemented immediately, not over weeks or months. They were at risk of losing customers who specifically wanted to pay with stablecoins. That's when they turned to Loop Crypto to enable stablecoin subscription payments that seamlessly integrated with their existing billing system.

Why cloud infrastructure companies need stablecoin payments

Over the last decade, the cloud infrastructure market has reached massive scale, with global spending on cloud services projected to reach over $700B annually in 2025.

As this market expands globally, cloud infrastructure companies face significant challenges with traditional cross-border payments. Cross-border credit card transactions typically involve fees up to 1% for currency conversion, and then there is the standard 3% credit card charge on top of that. For cloud infrastructure companies, margins can be tight, so these fees quickly eat into the bottom line or need to be passed onto customers, making their offering less appealing.

Stablecoins offer a compelling alternative by enabling near-instant, low-cost international transfers. This is particularly valuable for cloud infrastructure companies that need to collect payments from customers across multiple time zones and currencies while maintaining predictable cash flow.

Why Antimetal chose Loop

Antimetal chose Loop for three key reasons that addressed their specific business requirements.

1) Ability to off-ramp into fiat from stablecoins

Antimetal recognized the need to offer their customers the broadest possible set of payment methods. At the same time, they are not a crypto company, and most of their operational expenses are in fiat. This meant they needed to settle payments in fiat to their traditional bank accounts.

As a fast-growing company, their resources to spend time on financial operations were limited. They required a simple solution that would allow them to accept the payment method their customers asked for and receive the currency they required. . Loop's automated offramping capability solved this challenge by handling the conversion process seamlessly in the background. Their customers send payment in stablecoins like USDC or USDT, and Antimetal sees US dollars hit their back account, as simple as that.

2) Loop's integration with Stripe

One of Loop's most valuable features for Antimetal was its deep integration with Stripe. This integration allowed all customer data to sync to Stripe regardless of whether customers paid with traditional payment methods or stablecoins. Antimetal could continue using Stripe as its subscription management system while leveraging Loop to handle automated recurring payments in crypto and stablecoins. This meant no disruption to their existing financial operations or customer management workflows.

3) Loop's ability to handle usage-based billing

Antimetal's pricing model is based on usage – customers are billed according to the type of infrastructure services accessed and the compute resources consumed each month. Bills fluctuate significantly based on this variable usage, which creates challenges for traditional payment processing.

Loop solved this through its wallet authorization feature, which allows customers to set up a payment authorization that can be spent down over time. This enabled Antimetal to collect a wallet authorization upfront and then charge against that authorization as usage occurred throughout the billing cycle. Customers maintain full control through Loop's Customer Portal, where they can manage their payment methods.

Implementing Loop

As noted earlier, Antimetal needed a solution for crypto subscription payments that could be integrated quickly with minimal implementation work on Antimetal’s side. The path to getting paid in stablecoins required three easy steps to get up and running:

Step 1: Stripe Integration The team connected their existing Stripe account to Loop, ensuring that all product logic, customer data, and billing information would sync seamlessly between the two systems. This preserved their existing billing workflow while adding crypto and stablecoin payment capabilities.

Step 2: Payment Link Generation Antimetal generated invoices through their existing billing system, Stripe, and embedded Loop payment links, making it easy for customers to choose their preferred payment method at checkout.

Step 3: Set up to get paid in USD Antimetal completed Loop's Know Your Business (KYB) and provided a bank account to receive funds to. Loop handled the rest - setting up wallets on each chain and converting to fiat when funds are received.

Once these steps were complete, customers could use Loop's payment links to enable recurring payments in stablecoins. This means customers are automatically charged month after month without any manual intervention, just like traditional subscription billing but with the benefits of stablecoin payments.

What's Next

As it becomes easier and easier to build software, Antimetal is focused on ensuring the infrastructure layer keeps up and allows teams to deploy and maintain products across the globe. They recently raised a new round of funding to execute on this vision. The company continues to expand its AI-powered platform to help engineering teams automate more aspects of their infrastructure management, from cost optimization to incident response.

The success of Antimetal's integration with Loop demonstrates a broader trend: as cloud infrastructure companies expand internationally, accepting stablecoin payments becomes critical for capturing new customers and reducing the friction of cross-border transactions. For infrastructure companies selling subscription services globally, stablecoin payments offer a path to faster settlement, lower fees, and improved customer experience.
